Mental Health Awareness Project

The Art Show held at Central Elementary School in Lordsburg, NM was the culmination of the Mental Health Awareness Project which the 6^th graders participated in. The aim of the project was to use art to teach the children about depression and mental illness. The hope was to also decrease negative attitudes toward mental illness (stigma) in the community. During the program, the children expressed their thoughts and emotions through art and they also met and talked with Douglas Fraser, a person who has had mental illness and is now living successfully.

The art show was well received and attended.
